Print-on-Demand publishers are subject to the same laws as everyone else.
Yet some - not all - are Capitalist nightmares, often stealing profits from authors then telling them the books did not sell, so they instill a fee that garners more profits. This fee is 'required' for online distribution; a false one. A sign of corruption and immorality, protected by American loopholes in legislation, or by people ignoring the situation. This happened to me with Xlibris/ Authorhouse.com. Both are corrupt companies. Both are still in business today. Starving authors will die of starvation under these groups...
